Connecticut Woman Accused Of Narcotics Sales

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a 22 year-old Connecticut resident on various drug-related criminal charges.

According to the Sheriff, in early May of this year, deputies from the Sheriff's Narcotics Enforcement Unit received information that Trisha Leonard of 2 Rosenton Road, New Fairfield, CT. was selling street level amounts of heroin at various public parking lots in the Town of Southeast. Their investigation enabled undercover deputies to infiltrate her enterprise and purchase the drug from her on five separate occasions.

Shortly before 7:00PM on June 26th, Ms. Leonard was taken into custody and charged with 5 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, 5 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and one count of Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument.

Ms. Leonard was arraigned before Kent Town Justice Kevin Douchkoff, acting on behalf of the Town of Southeast Justice Court. Justice Douchkoff remanded Ms. Leonard to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond. She was subsequently released after posting the required bail.

Upon conviction of any count of the most serous criminal charge, a court may impose a jail sentence from one to nine years in a New York State correctional facility.
