Dutchess County Man Charged With Threatening To Kill Patterson Man

Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Dutchess County man for threatening to shoot a local man in Patterson.

Deputy Sheriff William Meyer was on patrol in the Town of Patterson on April 28, 2008 at 8:45 p. m. when he was dispatched to a report of an assault at the Patterson Recreation Center at 65 Front Street. Upon arrival, a local man told the deputy that he had gotten into a physical altercation with a man from Dover Plains. After the fight had been broken up by bystanders, the Dover Plains man stated that he was going to retrieve a gun from his car and shoot the complainant. The complainant told the deputy that he was in fear for his life and wished to file a criminal complaint. The Dover Plains man had fled the scene prior to the deputy's arrival.

Deputy Meyer located the man and directed him to turn himself in at the Putnam County Sheriff's Department. The deputy charged the man with Menacing in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was arraigned before Town of Patterson Justice Roger Tricinelli and is due to return to the Town of Patterson Justice Court at a later date to answer the charge.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
