Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a 28 year-old Dutchess County man on a Superior Court Warrant charging him with failure to appear at Putnam County Drug Court as required.

Mr. Matthew R. Mechura of 2770 West Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York, was ordered to regularly attend Putnam County Drug Court after he was arrested on felony Driving While Intoxicated charges.

Mr. Mechura surrendered himself to authorities at the Richmond County Sheriff's Office Correctional Facility in Augusta, Georgia. He waived extradition and agreed to return to New York. At the request of the Putnam County District Attorney's Office investigators from the Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Investigation were sent to Georgia, took custody of Mr. Mechura and returned him to Putnam County.

Mr. Mechura appeared before Putnam County Court Judge James Rooney. As a result he was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility without bail.
