Patterson Woman Charged In Credit Card Theft
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Patterson (NY) woman on criminal charges stemming from the theft of a credit card.
On January 13, 2010, the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from a Carmel resident reporting that her Visa credit card was stolen from her handbag while it was in a car. According to the complainant, approximately $400 of unauthorized purchases were made in the Towns of Patterson and Southeast using the stolen credit card.
The complaint was referred to investigators from the Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Investigators, assisted by Senior Probation Officer John Mulraney of the Putnam County Probation Department, developed a suspect in the larceny case.
On January 20th investigators arrested 54 year-old Susan F. Basora of 38 Burdick Road, Patterson, New York. She was charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class “E” felony and seven counts of Petit Larceny, a class “A” misdemeanor. Ms. Basora was arraigned before Carmel Town Justice Thomas Jacobellis and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 secured bond. A conviction of the most serious charge may result in a prison term as determined by a court for up to 4 years in a New York State correctional facility.
