Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Putnam County man on charges stemming from his alleged violation of an Order of Protection as issued by Putnam County Judge James Rooney.

Yesterday, members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office escorted an individual to the residence of Ricky N. Ventura, located at 1 Lane Gate Road in the Town of Philipstown so that she could remove her personal property from within the home. While at the house, Investigator Robert Ferris observed two long guns inside the home apparently in violation of a provision set forth in the Order of Protection.

Mr. Ventura was arrested by Investigator Ferris and charged with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a class “A” misdemeanor.

He was arraigned before Philipstown Town Justice Alan Steiner and released without bail pending a July 14th court appearance.

If convicted of the criminal charge, a court may impose a term of imprisonment for up to one year in the Putnam County Correctional Facility.
