Southeast Man Accused Of Selling Anabolic Steroids To Sheriff'S Undercover Narcotics Investigators
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a 26 year-old Southeast, New York man on felony drug possession and sales charges.
Mr. William D. Carlson of North Road, Brewster, New York, was arrested by members of the Putnam County Sheriff's Narcotics Enforcement Unit after they conducted a four-month investigation into the sales of anabolic steroids to others while at public shopping centers within the Town of Southeast. During the probe, investigators were able to infiltrate the operation and purchase more than 250 steroid pills from Mr. Carlson.
At about 10:30PM on March 8, 2008, Mr. Carlson was arrested after he was located at a Southeast gas station. He was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, both Class "D" felonies. He was arraigned before Southeast Town Justice James Borkowski and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail. Additionally, in January, Mr. Carlson was arrested by agents from the United States Food and Drug Administration after they learned that he allegedly ordered and received the anabolic steroids from other countries and had them delivered to his home by way of a commercial carrier.
Upon conviction of a single count of any felony crime, the court may impose a term of imprisonment for up to seven years in a New York State correctional facility.
