Dutchess Woman Charged With Larceny

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the recent arrest of a Dutchess County woman on a charge of petit larceny.

On January 14, 2012 at 2:35 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Johnathan Cihanek was dispatched to a report of a shoplifter in custody at the Hanaford Supermarket at 1936 Route 6 in the Town of Carmel. Upon arrival, the deputy determined that a security officer had detained a female subject who had been apprehended in the act of stealing merchandise. The deputy arrested Ms. Bevilacqua and charged her with Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and released in her own recognizance pending a January 30, 2012 appearance in the Town of Carmel Justice Court to answer the charge.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, Ms. Bevilacqua could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00
