East Fishkill Man Charged in Patterson Burglaries
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Dutchess County resident on criminal charges stemming from the reported two commercial burglaries occurring in the Town of Patterson.
The break-ins were reported to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office earlier this month. In both cases, the suspect allegedly entered the businesses during the hours of darkness and stole cash and other articles from within. The case was referred to investigators from the Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
In the course of the investigation, undercover deputies from the Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit developed information leading to the arrest of 28 year-old Robert M. Metzler of East Fishkill, New York.
On October 23rd, Mr. Metzler was arrested by investigators. He was charged with two counts of Burglary in the Third Degree, class “C” felony crimes. He was arraigned before Kent Town Justice Kevin Douchkoff, acting on behalf of the Patterson Justice Court. Justice Douchkoff remanded Mr. Metzler to the Putnam County Correctional Facility without bail pending a future court appearance.
The probe continues with additional arrests expected.
