Motorists Face DWI Charges
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the recent arrests of motorists on misdemeanor DWI charges.
On January 16, 2012 at 3:57 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Frederick Mark stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Main Street in the Village of Brewster. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Edgar L. Sandoval-Oliveros, 29, of 223 Danbury Road, New Milford, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. Sandoval-Oliveros and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The deputy further determined that the defendant was in possession of a quantity of cocaine. The defendant was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.
On January 21, 2012 at 2:03 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Edward Kennedy stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Route 6 in the Town of Southeast. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Zachary J. Robinson, 21, of 70 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. Robinson and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendants could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
