Southeast Man Charged With Aggravated DWI
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith announces the arrest of a Town of Southeast man on a charge of Aggravated DWI.
On February 9, 2014 at 12:34 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Frederick Mark responded to a report of a property damage auto accident on Peaceable Hill Road in the Town of Southeast.
Upon arrival, the deputy observed that a motorist had driven off the roadway and into the front yard of a residence. Upon investigation, the deputy determined that the driver, identified as Scott D. Dooner, 31, of 75 Tonneta Lake Way in the Town of Southeast was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. Dooner and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility, where his charge was upgraded to Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor. The defendant was released to the custody of a third party pending a future appearance in the Town of Southeast Justice Court to answer the charge.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
