Southeast Man Faces Multiple Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Town of Southeast man on a variety of charges following a violent domestic incident at his residence.

On January 25, 2012 at 2:39 p. m., Deputy Sheriff William Quick responded to a 911 report of a violent domestic dispute in progress at 3 Bloomer Road in the Town of Southeast. The caller advised that her son Connor P. O’Rourke, 22, was threatening her with a knife. Mr. O’Rourke had fled the scene on foot prior to the deputy’s arrival. The deputy secured the scene and began to search the area with Sergeant Michael Szabo and Deputy Sheriffs Daniel Hunsberger and Bryan Suppa. The deputies were assisted in the search by New York State Troopers and a helicopter from the NYSP Aviation Unit, as well as Deputy Sheriff Vincent Dalo and his K-9 Duncan. After approximately an hour, Mr. O’Connor emerged from a wooded area as the K-9 and Aviation Units located the suspect’s position, at which point Mr. O’Connor was taken into custody. Deputy Quick arrested Mr. O’Connor and charged him with Menacing in the Second Degree; Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree; and with Harassment in the First Degree, misdemeanors. The defendant was arraigned before Town of Kent Justice Kevin Douchkoff and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000.00 cash bail or $10,000.00 bond pending a February 14, 2012 appearance in the Town of Southeast Justice Court to answer the charges.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
